(Hebrews 13:8) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

One of the primary reasons some Christians decline into spiritual discouragement and weakness relates to how they understand the nature and character of God.

Over time, we can slowly forget that God has been faithful to us in our past, and we start to question God’s character. We become unsure on whether we can put our full trust in him concerning our future. As a result, we start to lose a foundational sense of security about our future that can only be rooted in the faithfulness of God.

The biblical solution to renewing spiritual strength in our inner lives requires us to renew our belief in truth that the faithfulness of Jesus Christ never change. He is the same yesterday and today and forever.

As 2 Timothy 2:13 tell us, “Even when we are faithless, God in Jesus Christ remains faithful. He cannot deny himself.” Even when we mess up, God will never leave or forsake us, as Hebrews 13:5 says. As Eugene Petersen said, "When we sin and mess up our lives, we find that God doesn't go off and leave us- he enters into our trouble and saves us."

Although we might fluctuate in our faith day by day, God does not. His eternal character is perfect and unchanging. He is absolutely the same every day. When we pray, we do not have to worry whether God is in a good mood or not. Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever.

This truth is our solid foundation in an ever-changing world. All people change from day by day, but God does not.

When we arise each morning, a good practice is to read Lamentations 3:22-23 out loud to ourselves. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
