(Philippians 4:6) Let your requests be made known to God.
Throughout the Bible, God tells us to “Ask Him.” We too often hold on to, or repress desires in our hearts. They boil there. They turn over and over again. They become a burden.
We say, “God knows what I want.” Well, he does, but he tells us to “Ask Him.” It’s a relationship that is important to God.
As Philippians 4:6 says, “Ask God for what you need.” We must let God know our requests in prayer. James 4:2 says, You do not receive, because you do not ask him. When we hear this, it sounds selfish and self-centered. Actually, it is a prayer of trust. It is a prayer of belief that God can do things beyond what we can do. James 1:5 tell us, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God.
We must ask God over and over again. Daily. We must keep asking. We must seek God and move his heart. He loves us. He will hear us.
However, when we ask God and tell him our requests, this does not mean that God will immediately answer our desires or needs. Although, he can and sometimes does. It might take weeks or even years. Also, God does not answer our requests how we would answer them. We are to ask God, but not tell him how he must answer our prayers.
His ways are not our ways. He timing is not our timing.
We must ask God and never give up. We are asking God out of our relationship with him. We do not make our requests as a form of religious magic. We ask God in the same way we would ask a friend. We are not attempting to manipulate God.
I encourage you to ask God for answers to the desires of your heart. We ask God, because we need his help and intervention. Our requests might seem impossible to us, but they are not impossible for him.
Ask God. Trust God. And wait upon him to answer our requests.
